"GloomyForest DevLog #2: Bugs, Shadows, and Sounds"
Exploring Further into the GloomyForest - Prototype Development Continues
Hello, everyone!
I'm back with more news about the progress on "GloomyForest". Since the last update, there have been a number of changes and additions, each enhancing the journey within this mysterious, creature-filled forest.
I want to make clear that the current graphics are still placeholders. I've been working on minor aesthetic bug fixes, aiming to refine the overall look and feel, but remember, these are not the final visuals. I'm still deciding on the final style. Similarly, I've added a few placeholder sounds and music tracks too, trying to get a sense of the forest's mood and ambiance.
A significant new feature is the option to toggle a shadow shader that surrounds the player. This could be a game-changer or not, I'm eager to hear what you think about it. Besides, I've also expanded the second scene, giving you more room to explore and interact within the game.
The absence of sound cues for imminent enemy attacks and the need for an animation to indicate this has been pointed out. Thank you for your feedback - it's incredibly valuable and I'm already addressing these concerns.
Speaking of bugs, there was a small one with one of the character animations. I must admit, it took me a couple of hours to sort it out, but I believe it's finally squashed.
Looking ahead, my focus is on adding the missing sound elements and introducing additional visual effects to make your interactions, like hitting or collecting objects, even more satisfying. I'm also contemplating enhancing the AI of the enemies, but I'm yet to decide if this needs immediate attention.
Unfortunately, this time I don't have any significant visual changes to show, but rest assured, the work continues in full swing behind the scenes.
That's about it for now! Thank you for joining me on this journey through GloomyForest, and remember, your feedback is not just welcome - it's essential. It helps shape the course of this adventure. So, delve back into the forest, share your experiences, and together, let's see where the mystery leads us next.
